Statement of Consumer Privacy
At Hamptons State Bank consumer privacy is our utmost concern and safeguarding our consumer's information is our promise. Our Privacy Policy, which applies to individuals who use our financial services and products delivered through our offices in the United States primarily for personal, family or household purposes (not business purposes) is as follows:
- We will safeguard, according to strict standards of security and confidentiality, any information you share with us.
- We will limit the collection and use of consumer information to the minimum we require to deliver superior service to our customers, which includes advising our customers about our products, services and other opportunities, and to administer our business. Information may be collected from applications for our financial products and services, transactions with consumers credit reporting agencies, and other public sources.
- Only authorized employees who need access to and are trained in the proper handling of consumer information, are permitted to have access to consumer information.
- We do not disclose non-public personal information of consumers to any non-affiliated third parties, and will not do so in the future unless we first provide a reasonable opportunity for you to opt-out of any such disclosure or obtain your express authorization. From time to time we may however, share information among our corporate family of financial services companies. By sharing information among HSB and it's corporate family, we can better understand your financial needs and identify the products and services that may be of interest to you.
- Certain federal and state statutes, regulatory agencies and courts of law may require us to disclose information about you. For example, if you are involved in litigation with a third party, we may be ordered to provide information to a court or the other litigant. In these circumstances, only the specific information required by law, subpoena, or court order will be disclosed.
- We will maintain control over the confidentiality of our consumer information. We have in place procedural and technical safeguards to protect consumer information in both physical and electronic forms.
- We will review our Privacy Policy annually and mail a copy of our Privacy Policy to all consumers at least once annually. We reserve the right to change our privacy policies described herein at any time.
- We may also provide information about you to certain service providers. Where we use non-affiliated third party service provider, they will be contractually bound to hold all consumer information strictly confidential. We will require them to conform to our privacy standards and to allow us to audit them for compliance.
- To help us process your applications, service your account and deliver other financial services to you, we may exchange information about you with reputable reference sources and clearinghouse services.
- Occasionally, we receive medical or health information. We safeguard this information just as we would any financial information and use it only for the purpose of the underwriting or administration of a transaction claim or account or as disclosed when the information is collected, or to which you consent.
- We continually strive to maintain complete and accurate information about you and your accounts. We provide you with access to your account information through various means such as account statements and electronic and telephonic banking. If you believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you, please let us know immediately. We will investigate the matter and take prompt steps to make appropriate corrections.
